Taskem Corp. manufactures altimeters, tachometers, engine gauges and other instruments for ultralight, experimental and certified aircraft and hot air balloons.  Started in 1988, the firm began when its founder sought an alternative to several failures experienced with mechanical altimeters subjected to the extreme vibration of 2-stroke powered aircraft. The Model 1000, solid state, vibration proof digital altimeter resulted.  To date, thousands of these have been sold worldwide and several other products have since been added to a growing line of aircraft instruments.
